Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, has emphasized the urgent need to accelerate technology transfer to enhance industrial collaboration and strengthen India’s innovation-driven economy.
Speaking at a review meeting held in Tirupati, Dr. Singh assessed the scientific achievements and technological contributions of CSIR laboratories based in Chennai and Hyderabad. He highlighted that transforming laboratory research into socially and commercially viable applications is essential for realizing the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
The meeting focused on aligning CSIR laboratories’ recent achievements with national priorities, in view of the Government of India’s continued encouragement to strengthen the country’s scientific and innovation ecosystem. Directors of various CSIR labs presented their key accomplishments and outlined future strategies for impactful research, innovation, and industry collaboration.
Directors from leading CSIR institutions—including CSIR-CECRI (Karaikudi), CSIR-NGRI (Hyderabad), CSIR-CLRI (Chennai), CSIR-SERC (Chennai), CSIR-CCMB (Hyderabad), and CSIR-IICT (Hyderabad)—shared their progress in areas such as clean energy, energy storage, geophysics, advanced materials, genomics, pharmaceuticals, and sustainable infrastructure.
Dr. Jitendra Singh praised the collective efforts of CSIR laboratories and reiterated the importance of need-based research and science-led innovation for national development. He stressed the necessity of strong industry partnerships, faster technology commercialization, and greater focus on the societal impact of research.
The Minister also underlined that industries must provide due recognition to CSIR for the commercialization of its technologies. He affirmed that CSIR plays a vital role in strengthening India’s scientific capabilities and driving the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission forward.
